MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Project Linus Lock-In... Help Blanket Children with Love!

Most of you are aware that my Dad lost his long battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) back in September at the age of 61. Since then, I have been trying to make sense of it all and find a path to healing. I have been filled with a desire to give something back, but have struggled to find just the right project and I have! Check out http://www.projectlinus.org/.

Please mark your calendars for 09/10/2010 and 09/11/2010. I will be hosting a Blanket Making “Lock-In” at Pleasant Grove UMC in my Dad’s honor. Even if you can’t sew (or hate to) there are NO SEW VERSIONS of blankets that you can do – all you need to be able to do is tie a knot – or you could help others cut fabric, organize, iron, etc.!

“Project Linus welcomes blankets of all styles, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Blankets must be new, handmade and washable. You don’t have to be an expert to create a blanket that is beautiful to a child! Materials must be new, unused and free of contaminants such as mold, mildew and smoke. They should be cotton or cotton/poly blends. Knits, double knits, wool, and some other materials are not acceptable.”

How can you help?

• Please start looking for fabrics that are on sale, etc., and if you are able grab them up. Keep an eye on craft store coupons. You can use them at ANY store. Hobby Lobby carries fabric, as does Joanns. Sign up for Michaels, Joanns, and Hobby Lobby mailing lists and they will email you the coupons weekly.
• Start talking to your friends about attending, as well as any materials they may have that they can donate. Just make sure they fit within the guidelines listed above. I would like to start “stock-piling” materials, especially fleece, flannel, and cotton prints. We will also need cotton batting.

If you think you might be able to attend and/or are interested, please let me know. You are NOT committing, just trying to gauge possible number of participants.

We would come in on Friday night 09/10 at 6:00 pm and the event would end on Saturday 09/11 at 6:00 pm. Sleeping space available at the church, so you can “blanket” the night away – or you could come and go as you please.

REMEMBER – You DO NOT HAVE TO BE A SEAMSTRESS to participate!! Please share this information with any friends that might be interested.

Stamping Club Info Meeting Recap!

Never a dull moment with these gals! We had a great time working on the make and takes that my downline, Tammy Baldwin, designed. We created these fabulous mini milk cartons made using the Big Shot, Mini Milk Carton Die, papers and embellishments from the Simply Scrappin' Kit, Petal Party, and sealed with Mini Library Clips.



JOIN A STAMPING CLUB! Why join a club, you ask?? Check out these great reasons:

Free Crop/PMS Day TODAY and Stamping Club Information Meeting on Monday!

Bring your own projects to work on or just come visit! PMS Nights (popcorn, music, and scramping) are FREE of charge. Multiple demonstrators will sponsor a Make & Take Session from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. (no stamping experience required). Make & Takes will be $2.50 each with 10% of profit to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Come enjoy the fun!! BEGINNERS and LOOKY-LOU'S welcome!!!

I have arranged for delivery of dinner for those interested! Boy Scouts Troop 40 (Pine Mountain) will be serving their annual spaghetti supper the day of our crop. The meal includes spaghetti, sauce, salad, bread, beverage, and dessert!! A great meal for $5.00 per plate! Orders must be placed with Katie and money received by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Delivery of plates is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., just in time to take the plates home with you for dinner with the family after your crop!


Stampin' Club Informational Meeting

Drop in and get information on joining a stamping club. Stamp on a budget and get FREE product! Free make and take. A stamping club sponsored by Katie Burke and Tammy Baldwin will start in March at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Hamilton Road. Club will meet on a Friday night or Saturday morning once a month (date to be determined in advance by each hostess) for the duration of the club. Members will complete a complimentary project (hostess chooses project type in advance) during club meeting time while placing orders.

Unable to attend or want to do it long distance? NOT a problem! Just place your club order by deadline and you will receive the materials for the make and take, as well as the hostess benefits during your hostess month!

REMINDER - PMS NIGHT CANCELLED FOR 09/19/2009

Hi! This is just a reminder that PMS Night on 09/19/2009 was cancelled and rescheduled for 09/03/2009 as a Super Saturday before my Dad passed away.

I decided after my husband's back surgery interrupting the August PMS Night and then my Dad passing away and having to cancel the 09/03/2009 Super Saturday I had planned, I would not tempt fate and try to reschedule it again.

So, NO PMS NIGHT TOMORROW!

Location: Pleasant Grove UMC Fellowship Hall.
Cost: FREE (donations to PGUMC welcome).

• Just like in-home workshops, but hostesses won't have to make snacks OR clean the house!
• 4 hostess slots each month.
• Walk-ins welcomed (PRIOR to the start of the workshop). Assigned to established hostess groups.
• 2 hostess groups meet at same time (hostess group A and hostess group B).
• Participants each take home a scrapbooking make and take, a card make and take, and Big Shot item.

SUPER SATURDAY CANCELLED 09/05/2009

My Daddy lost an honorable 3-year battle with leukemia early this morning. Now it is time for him to rest with the Lord. Please consider making a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN (Dad's hometown). As horrible as this disease was to my father, I simply cannot imagine having a child with such a devastating condition.

For those who may want to know... Visitation Friday 6-9 pm @ McKoons Funeral Home - Newnan. Funeral Saturday 2 pm @ Senoia UMC. Gathering at my brothers house in Newnan to follow.

So sorry to cancel yet another event. It has been a terrible 3 to 4 weeks for my family. My poor husband could not even be with me during this difficult time because of limitations from his emergency back surgery just 2 weeks ago. I will update you with new dates asap.

Please pray for my mother, grandmother, and children, as this is an exceptionally difficult time for all of us.

My husband had emergency surgery on Monday, so I am regrettably going to have to postpone the PMS Night on 08/22/2009.

I have decided to try to make it up to you by combining the PMS Night for August (08/22/2009) and the PMS Night for September (09/19/2009) into 1 event on 09/05/2009.

I will be hosting a Super Saturday on 09/05/2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Location: Pleasant Grove UMC Fellowship Hall.
Cost: $10.00 per person OR $5 each when you bring a (new to my events) friend.
