DATE CHANGES!!! Daddy's Dreams - Cutting and Sewing Sessions

Please mark your calendars for 07/30/2010 and 07/31/2010!

Date Changed to
08/13/2010 and 08/14/2010
due to Homecoming
at PGUMC on 08/01/2010!
See below for specific dates/times!

Unfortunately, the dates for the Daddy's Dreams Cutting and Sewing Sessions have to be moved.  When scheduling the July dates, I did not realize that it was the weekend of homecoming at Pleasant Grove.
I hope you can still join me in August for this event!

See below for changes in red and also please see the Equipment/Donation Requests section for ways you can help!

I am proud to announce an amazing project I am undertaking in memory of my Dad, who passed away in September after a long brave battle with AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) at the age of 61.

The project will be called “Daddy’s Dreams” and I will be working with my Stampin’ Up! downline, the Bella B Stampers, and my church, Pleasant Grove UMC.  The project will be 2-fold:
  • We will provide "rag quilts" that have been handcrafted specifically for patients who have been diagnosed with cancer – to “blanket them with love” during their ordeal.
  • We will be making hats for women/girls who are enduring chemo – blinged out with fabric flowers, of course!
Over the past few weeks I have been soliciting donations from the fabric community.  I have received an overwhelmingly touching response and have been humbled by their generosity.

Please join me for a special weekend!

There will be something for everybody’s skill level, whether it is cutting, ironing, running a Big Shot, stacking fabrics sewing on the machine, or hand assembling flowers.  Hoping for an awesome experience!!!

EQUIPMENT/DONATION REQUESTS:
We are in need of several items to help make this a fast-moving and successful process.  Please see below for a list of items that you might bring (or loan us if you can't attend) to assist!
  • Cutting pads and rotary blades to cut fabric into strips
  • Long quilting rulers and/or yard sticks to guide cutting of strips
  • Big Shot machines with Scallop Square Dies and Fancy Folds Dies – and any floral dies you might have
  • Big Shot clear cutting pads
  • Sewing machines with thread
  • Iron and Ironing board
  • Shoebox size clear "rubbermaid" containers to sort/store/tote fabrics by color
  • New "bucket" hats (or other) to decorate with the fabric flowers
  • Large decorative buttons
  • Needles and thread
We also need access (not necessarily same day) to an industrial washer/dryer to use – hopefully for free?? We will need to launder the quilts when they are completed to initiate the "ragging" process.

REFRESHMENTS:
  • We will have ice cold drinks for sale.  The money raised will be used to purchase materials (hats to adorn, thread, needles) that we have not had donated.
  • We will set up a "pot luck" table, so please feel free to bring your favorite snack food or dessert to share (or your own sack lunch).
I know I packed in a ton of information above, but I wanted to cover it all for you!  I hope you will join me on this journey as we bless these deserving patients... and we too are blessed by giving of ourselves as we live the Statement of the Heart....

Please CONTACT ME if you have any questions.  Have a blessed day!
